Hofrat is a son of the international Grand Prix dressage stallion, EH Gribaldi (who is also sire of Painted Black and Totilas.) Himself champion of his approval (in 1995), Gribaldi was a “keur” stallion for the KWPN and a strong international competitor with Dutch Edward Gal. Through his sire, Kostolany (Trakehner licensing Champion 1987), he is a member of the Pasteur xx-Mahagoni stallion line. That particular stallion line has produced the Olympic Bronze Medalist Peron TSF (M. Gibson/USA), as well as the international dressage horses Chronos (Denmark) and Marlon (France). Kostolany’s sire Enrico Caruso stands for high rideability and great performance in his get and can be found in the top of the USDF stallion lists in the past years. Hofrat’s dam, who also produced the Reserve Champion Hoftänzer, is a daughter of Guter Planet, a son of the impeccable major sire EH Consul with a very good reputation in Hanover.

Hofrat embodies the top modern Trakehner sport stallion. Elegance, ease, dynamic movements and highest willingness to work marks him as a desired sire. His breathtaking scope, balance and rhythm came hand in hand with maximum shoulder freedom, suspension and impulsion from his back end, which was perfectly transported over his swinging back. The stallion has been all over the news in 2005 after his Hanoverian son Hotline became not only champion at the Hanoverian approvals in Verden, but also left the auction as the most expensive 2 year old colt ever:

  • 2000 Reserve Champion of his licensing
  • 2001, 2002 und 2004 Qualified in the Bundeschampionats
  • 2002 Trakehner Champion
  • 2003 HLP (stallion performance test) Adelheisdorf Dressage score of 136/II
  • 2005 he produced the Licensing Champion at Verden (Hotline)

Hofrat is another beautiful black son of the stallion GRIBALDI. Hofrat is full Trakehner. The blood of the Trakehner is consolidated over generations, so stallions tend to be prepotent in stamping their offspring.

The dam line of Hofrat is excellent. He is a wonderfully elegant, good sized stallion, with dynamic movement and the highest willingness to work. He shows excellent balance and rhythm, combined with maximum freedom of shoulder. He has good suspension and impulsion from his hindquarters and a supple, swinging back.

Dimaggio, the 2000 World Champion of the 5 year old Dressage Horses and damsire of the 2011 & 2012 Young Horse Dressage World Champion, Woodlander Farouche, is a very noble, modern Hanoverian with three outstanding gaits and an ability to produce top class international dressage horses.

Dimaggio who descends from the Bundeschampion and Grand Prix-winner Don Primero, ranked fourth at the Bundes-championat in 1999, he was World Champion of five-year-old dressage horses in Arnheim/NED in 2000 and then victorious in dressage tests up to Inter 1. Almost 20 of his sons were licensed, among them the finalist of the Bundeschampionat FSDemirel, the Premium Stallion and national Oldenburg Champion Diamo Gold OLD, the second Oldenburg Reserve Champion Dylano and the Austrian Bundeschampion and competitor at the FEI Dressage Horse World Championships Bartlgut’s Duccio.

Dimaggio’s damsire, World Cup I, won his performance test, was the DLG Reserve Champion Stallion twice, received the “Hanoverian Stallion of the Year” award and sired numerous dressage horses such as Watussi, What Joy, Willi the Kid,Walamo, Water World and Vino Veritas. Through the half Thoroughbred stallions, Lindberg (by Der Löwe xx) and Emir in the following generations, the line goes back to the Dannenberg breeding area.

Dimaggio’s daughter, Cherie, 2001 World Champion of six year old dressage horses and hands down winner of the 2003 Nürnberg Burgpokal confirms that Dimaggio has a dressage pedigree par excellence. Almost 20 of Dimaggio’ssons have been licensed. Among them are the finalist of the Bundeschampionate, FS Demirel, the Premium Stallion and Oldenburg State Champion, Diamo Gold OLD, the second Oldenburg Reserve State Champion, Dylando, and the Austrian National Champion and competitor at the World Young Horse Championships, Bartlgut’s Duccio.

Dimaggio passed his performance test in 1999 in Neustadt/Dosse with a score of 133.39 (2nd place) in dressage, and proceeded to place 4th with the best at the Bundeschampionate before he left for England. After his arrival inEngland he immediately became the Young Horse Champion. In 2000 in Arnheim (NL) he became World Champion of five year old dressage horses, and in 2002 and 2003 under his rider, Suzanne Davis, Dimaggio won and placed in various tests up to Inter I. During his breeding time in England, Dimaggio sired the 2003 BritishWarmblood Champion and the British Sport Horse Champion.

Dimaggio has also produced top selling auction horses. His licensed son, Di Magic, was the top priced horse at the 2011 75th Jubilee Oldenburg Elite Auction in Vechta selling for 240,000 Euro. At the same auction, the chestnut gelding son, Discovery, sold for 95,000 Euro, and the Dimaggio daughter, Dezemberspitze, was the top priced horse at the following Oldenburg Winter Mixed Sales Auction going for the price of 100,000 Euro.

At the 2006 German Foal Championships, Dimaggio was the sire of the Reserve Champion Filly (dam by Fürst Heinrich), and his foals continue to be impressive and successful to this day. Dimaggio’s offspring are most popular: his licensed son Di Magic was the top-priced horse of the 75th jubilee auction in Vechta (Euro 240,000). Discovery was sold at Euro 95,000. The Dimaggio-daughter Dezemberspitze achieved the highest bid of Euro 100,000 at the 51st Winter Mixed Sales shortly afterwards.
